The Lindesmith building was erected in 1910 on Main Street in downtown Alliance. The 3 story red brick building was called Lindesmith Hardware Store. The history of Alliance is such that the Main Street was not a through street, it ended at the railroad depot, they thought the railway was the way of the future. As a result the business's moved south to the main highway ( route 62) and the downtown area declined. It is now vacant.
