High up in the road end gable of the 'babies' room addition, above the large window, is a square terra-cota plaque commemorating the 50 years' reign of Queen Victoria. It names the countries she was Queen of, 'Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Burmah, Gibraltar, Malta, Cyprus, Egypt, Africa, and W.Indies' round the outside of the square and round a bust of the queen it says 'Victoria 60 Years Queen of Great Britain & Ireland'. Linking the outer and inner names are Empress / of India in two short garters, one at the left , the other at the right. The plaque is some 40in square. The date stone is below the window and simply states the date '1897'.
The extension and room forms the northern wing of the school and is directly adjacent to the church and churchyard. The north wing forms a courtyard, round which are the original school buildings. The footpath along the main road through the village forms the fourth side.
