The marker has a lip around the perimeter, possibly for artistic effect, possibly to keep the elements off the face. Near the top is a depiction of a garland of flowers, with roses prominent, held in place by a ribbon. Above the inscription are the three links of the Odd Fellows emblem, and below it is a hand, holding a heart, denoting charity. The inscription lacks any personal information, and says:
W.L. Gregg,
Chosen Friends Lodge
No. 86, I.O.O.F.
Metropolis, Ill.
On the reverse of the marker is a depiction of a woman's hand holding a lily of the valley.
Findagrave has a little bit of information about him, but not much. (
