The Brockport Rural Cemetery Association was organized in 1882 to provide a burial site for Civil War veterans. The cemetery included a monument tower which was conceived by Horatio M. Beach and dedicated on September 1, 1893. Land west of the tower was set aside for the free interment for Civil War veterans from Brockport and surrounding towns.

Many soldiers were buried there before the association became dormant and the grounds neglected after the death od Horatio M. Beach. Many of the remains were disinterred and buried elsewhere. Today only a couple of graves can be found in a wooded area downhill from the tower.
Earliest Burial: 06/02/1879

Latest Burial: 11/19/1897
