A 4' granite stele sits on a 1' high granite base and is flanked by two identical 3.5' high granite figures of a Union soldier. The soldier is dressed in Civil War uniform with visored cap and belt inscribed with the initials, US. The soldier has a kit on his belt and a kit on his left side that hangs from a strap over his right shoulder. He is holding a rifle by the barrel, left hand over right, with the butt of the rifle outside the left leg.
The front of the granite stele is inscribed:
