This mark is cut into the north west face of the plinth of a memorial column/fountain on the north east side of Paul Street.

The mark, cut into a granite plinth, is in good condition and is easy to locate.
The survey was undertaken in 1975 and the data above was taken from the Ordnance Survey website. In 2002 the memorial was moved, approximately 50 metres to the south east, to its current location.
A plaque on the memorial (see photos) tells us:

In re-locating, it would appear that the memorial was also rotated through roughly 90° as the mark is now on the north west face - not the north east.
