"The Evangelical Lutheran parish, university and Deanery Church of St. Mark, also known as St. Mark's Church is the second Lutheran church in Munich. It was built in 1873-1876, designed by Rudolf Hilary. The present building is virtually a new building, designed by Gustav Gsaenger taking into existing masonry structures that survived the Second World War. It is now the seat of the Dean of Munich-center and dean of the city of Munich, which are currently united in one person. St. Mark was the only Protestant church of historicism in Munich, which largely corresponded to the demands of the Eisenach regulator."

[English Translation]
"The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Mark's in the Munich suburb of Maxvorstadt stands since 1877 and has had a varied architectural history. The district was created as the first planned city expansion in the early 19th century and was named after the first king of Bavaria. In the 20th century, the fact that Munich was appointed by the Nazis as the "capital of the movement" hit particularly hard the Maxvorstadt. The Maxvorstadt was the center of the central building of the party and has been abused for architectural staging of the Nazi regime claim. 1945 Maxvorstadt was almost completely destroyed, their public buildings were rebuilt but largely true to the original. However, the once neo-Gothic St. Mark's Church was no longer the old, but now a whole new architectural face."
