This wayside shrine with a painting of the Virgin Mary holdinga baby Jesus, standing near to a fisherman carrying an oar has been incorporated into a wall on the Avinguda Verge del Carme.

The small stone shrine is standing on a column of layered stones.
It is at the end of Avinguda Verge del Carme, used for the annual procession of Virgen del Carmen. The Virgen del Carmen, also know as “La Reina de los Mares” (Queen of the Seas), is the patron saint of mariners and fishermen and holds a revered place in the hearts of coastal communities throughout Spain.
