Gothic Church of Ss. Peter and Paul (Kostel Sv. Petra a Pavla), the principal architectonic landmark of town Ledec nad Sázavou, is also the parish church of Ledec Roman Catholic parish.
Ledec is known as a parish settlement from the 13th century, but the first written references about the Ss. Peter and Paul Church are from the first third of the 14th century. The Church's presbytery and northern chapel were built around 1400. The choir, covered by Gothic cross vault with ribs on consolas, is illuminated by four high tracery windows. European rarity is nave web-vault with decorative (not supporting) function only, built by Ledec potters from ceramics in the 16th century. The church's construction was finished during reign of Ledec demesne owners, Jan Burian Ledecsky of Ricany and Zdenek Mezirícský of Lomnice, together with the Renaissance prismatic belfry in 1509.
The church was badly damaged by flooding in 1714 and also by town's fires in 1643, 1720, and 1806. The pricipal exterior church's reconstruction was held in 1930-1931 and interior general reconstruction in 1968-1970. New organ was installed in 1977 and further repairs were done in 1991-1994. Two new bells, Petra and Paul & Mary, were hung up in belfry in November 1999.
