Though this little elevator is painted in Alberta Wheat Pool Green, we have no idea of its history. It is unlikely that it is connected with the old
Sugar Factory near which it stands. It bears old Agrium and Elephant Brand (fertilizer) signs, so likely it was used solely or primarily by Agrium for fertilizer storage, or was previously a grain elevator converted to fertilizer storage.
It appears to be still in use, as are the steel bins and possibly the large concrete silos nearby. Agrium, BTW was, until 1995, Cominco Fertilizers, which is based in Trail, BC. This explains the Elephant Brand logo, which was, and still is, the trade name for Cominco fertilizer.
