Rev Robert McDowall was one of the first settlers in this area and acted as a missionary for the establishment of the Presbyterian Church in Canada.

The Memorial is made of the original bell tower brick, the bell and the cement steps from the original church that stood on this site. It was erected in 1921, and restored in 1991.

A plaque is mounted overhead the bell on the tower denoting:

1798-1887

The plaque beneath the bell reads:

The Bell In This Church
Tower Is Dedicated To
The Glory Of God And The
Memory Of Robert John McDowall
By His Children
A.D. 1904.
