Circa 1890
Stafford~Benbow House
Built as a two room house for Robert M Stafford, Guilford County Sheriff (1865-80) and owner of Old Mill. House later enlarged by Stafford to current Neo-classical style. A jail was located behind house until the early 1900s. Later owned by A. Murrow Benabow., grandson of Jesse Benabow, and has remained in the Benabow family for over 50 years.
