A monument to the struggle and sacrifice of the Pioneer Women of the early days of Texas is located on the grounds of the Texas State Capitol in Austin, Texas.
Commissioned by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, District VIII, this life-sized bronze figure was sculpted by Linda Sioux Henley, who is a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas herself -- as well as a direct descendant of Alamo defender Gordon C. Jennings. Her personal website can be found here: (

The statue -- which the artist named "Honoring Early Texas Pioneer Women" -- stands atop a Texas Sunset Red granite pedestal on which the following is inscribed:
"TEXAS PIONEER WOMAN
Honoring the Pioneer Women of Early Texas
Presented to the State of Texas by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas District VIII
1998"
