"In 1551, the printer Christoffel Froschauer bought the former St. Verena Frauenklösterchen at the Little Brunngasse, at the end of the small "Züblibrunnen" stand.

For craft operating capacity of the then well was too low, so that Froschauer built its own water supply, which was both technically and artistically outstanding. He left the crown of the well by a stonemason carve his printer characters: a giant frog on which rides a boy with a little flag.

Before the Franciscan mendicant at the lower fences stood a fountain with a beautiful baroque column. 1873 the most beautiful parts of the two wells were combined into a single well. The "frog Auer fountain" is now between Predigerplatz and Zähringerplatz."
