This church began as the York Methodist Church until 1977 when it became the Uniting Church and is one of the oldest Uniting ( Methodist)Churches in Western Australia.
In 1852 the Methodist minister of York built a chapel for the Aboriginal Mission this subsequently became the Church Hall when the present church was constructed in 1888
The 1888 church is in the Victorian Georgian stlye, built of local stone with rendered openings and buttresses, and an arched porch entry. The high pitched slate gable roof has a decorative spire.
