Beside the paved path from Lych gate to church is a slate slab mounted on a slate plinth. Legible inscription, which reads lych gate is also dedicated to the fallen. Church is waymarked also.

Both the lych gate and slate memorial were designed by Curwen, an architect of Kendal & Heversham.

This stone & Lych Gate were erected to the memory of the officers and men of this parish who fell in the great war.

Joseph Holt and William Higgin Birkett both appear on Winster's memorial and both plaques in the adjacent church.
Flight Lt (Pilot) Richard Arthur Branson, RAFVR, of Kents Bank; died August 31 1945, aged 27 and buried in Thorpe Cemetery, Melton Mowbray. Guardsman James Albert Brocklebank of Windermere; 6th Battalion Grenadier Guards, killed in action North Africa, May Day 1943 aged 22 and buried at Enfidaville, Tunisia.
