A sign at the chapel provides the following information:
"The fact that St. Sebastian, the "patron saint of the plague", was chosen as the patron saint of the chapel indicates that the chapel was built as a result of the plague raging at that time. In the second half of the 15th c this area was severely stricken with this pandemic.
The chapel was built in 1502 and in 1718/19 a tower was added. Before that the bells were located in the western wall above the entrance. In 1736 a baroque renovation took place and an altar made of "Sargans Marble" was added. In 1984.85 the chapel was renovated to its present form."
This same information is also provided in German.
