Marian Relief is a bas relief sculpture located above a side door entrance to Albert Emanuel Hall on the campus of the
University of Dayton.
From the Smithsonian AIC Description:
The relief consists of two sections. One primary section has the figure of the Virgin Mary seated in a chair. She holds an open book in her hands. Above the figure of Mary is a relief of an open book, with the letters M, U and D, the logo of the old Marian library at the University.
A plaque under the lower section reads:
Our Lady of the Marian Library
Gift of Mr. and Mrs. Aloysius A Roesch
