This memorial to the U.S. Civil War Veterans was dedicated on Memorial Day (originally Decoration Day) May 30, 1917. It was rededicated May 30, 2017, the 100 year anniversary of the memorial.

This U.S. Civil War memorial was erected by the citizens of Rifle to honor the G.A.R and L. G.A.R. It appears to have originally been a fountain, but is now just a marker in Heinze Park. The front of the memorial reads:

IN HONOR OF OUR NATION'S HEROES
1861 - 1865

The rear reads:

ERECTED BY THE CITIZENS OF RIFLE
IN HONOR OF
G.A.R. and L. or G.A.R.
MAY 30, 1917
