The tallest point in town serves as an Intersection Station 'benchmark' on the Smith Island town of Ewell, Maryland.

This church is located on the S side of Caleb jones RD - E of the intersection of Smith island RD. Interestingly, there is a tidal benchmark located on the E side of the main entrance & the remains of one on the W side of the same entrance.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1942 (WDP) LOCATED ON THE W SIDE OF THE VILLAGE OF EWELL ON SMITH ISLAND. SPIRE IS ON THE N END OF THE WHITE WOODEN CHURCH.

RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1961 (LFB) SPIRE RECOVERED AS DESCRIBED. THE DESCRIPTION IS ADEQUATE.
