Visitors to a wayside just off Hyatt Prairie Rd might notice four placards which describe native birds to Hyatt Lake and provide good birdwatching opportunities.

This particular placard highlights the double-breasted cormorant, an odd-looking bird whose habits here at Hyatt Lake are particularly unattractive to visitors and anglers because of their odorous nests and pig-like grunts and hisses they make.
