In the southern part of Bethlehem is Sal's Restaurant, a family-owned Italian restaurant that knows how to cater to gluten-free dining.
As visitors to the area, we were looking through the options available (downloaded from various sites). This statement on Sal's Facebook page made the decision for us:
"Sal's Brick Oven Pizza is a family owned restaurant. We all strive in making your experience at Sal's one to remember.
*We do Gluten Free and We are BYOB*"
Sal's Brick Oven pizza is located on New Street, just south of the intersection of New and E/W 4th Street. Parking is on street or in a lot - make sure you feed the meter!
The place is smallish, with several small tables crammed in. There is even outdoor seating available - if you don't mind hearing traffic from the intersection. We ended up at a table that had a view of the kitchen and was by where people would go in and out. It turned out to be a most interesting place to observe the operations. We saw how much of a family operation it was - not only did we see several generations in the place, but also how much the staff engaged with the dining families. The server was very knowledgeable about what items on the menu could be prepared gluten free. The dish ordered was a gluten free pasta with marinara sauce. It was rated 'Really Good!'
