Behind the northbound track of the subway station Schweizer Straße is, under a glass dome, a statue of Saint Barbara, the protector of the miners and, in their succession, the tunnellers.
This fits to the sacred atmosphere of the station, that it is adorned with a sacred figure, in the traditionally Protestant Frankfurt a humorous unicum. Responsible for this was the architect Willy Orth, who also designed the station with its vaulted ceiling and the indirect lighting.
On a wreath stand the names of the six patrons of the tubes around the station: "Roselinde" and "Frolinde" for the two tubes of the Main tunnel (after the wife of the mayor Arndt, as well as the town councillor Balser at that time), as well as "Sybille" (Babendererde) , "Margaret" (Weber), "Uschi" (Prugel) and "Liesel" (Christ) for the four tunnel sections north and south of the station.
