Bronze tablet set on Southwest corner of a bridge over a branch of the North Fork of Coal Creek, on SR 25, 1.9 Miles North of SR 55, in rural Wingate, Indiana.

Benchmark # C39R, Elevation 726.550 Feet. Located in , Sec. 10 & 11, T 20-N, R, 6-W, Township - Coal Creek, County - Montgomery. 1.9 Miles North of SR 55, on Sr 25. Benchmark set on Southwest corner of a bridge over a Branch of the North Fork of Coal Creek. This is a reset of BM C39. (visit link)

Wingate, formerly known as Pleasant Hill, is a town in Coal Creek Township, Montgomery County, Indiana, United States. The population was 263 at the 2010 census. Wingate was platted, (as Pleasant Hill), by Christian Bever in 1832. Citizens later renamed the town in honor of prominent townsperson, John C. Wingate. (visit link)

Montgomery County was established by an act of the Indiana state legislature passed on December 21, 1822, which defined the county's boundaries and provided for the organization of its government. It was formed from parts of Wabash New Purchase attached to Parke and Putnam Counties.
