The Dartmouth station served a passenger-only ferry that crossed the River Dart to connect with the railway line terminating in Kingswear. Today the station is a restaurant, but the passenger ferry still operates across the Dart to Kingswear, and trains still serve Kingswear Station. See the article in Wikipedia for more details.
