"Cwmdonkin Park is one of Swansea's hidden treasures. Located in the heart of Swansea and famous for its links with Swansea's most famous son - Dylan Thomas, the park has recently undergone a regeneration programme funded by Heritage Lottery Fund, European Regional Development Fund, Visit Wales and the City and County of Swansea. Improvements include the refurbishment of the bowls pavilion, now the Cwmdonkin Park Tea Rooms, a cafe featuring a 1950's decor reminiscent of Dylan Thomas, upgraded play areas, new footpaths, signage and planting and an exciting programme of events.
The park was located so near to Dylan Thomas' house that "on summer evenings I could listen, in my bed, to the voices of other children playing ball", the park was Dylan's second home. As well as being Dylan\'s playground, it was also an important location and inspiration for much of his poetry and prose. The park is the setting of some of his best loved work, such as the short story 'Patricia, Edith and Arnold', and one of his most famous poems, 'The hunchback in the park'. (
