The tree is located on a traffic circle in a parking lot in the Presidio in Golden Gate Park. The bronze plaque is on a jagged rock in front of the coniferous tree. The plaque was placed by the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a organization of women descendants of people involved in the US independence.
