Albrecht von Haller (1708-1777) was a Swiss scientist. He is often referred to as "the father of modern physiology." The complete works of Albrecht von Haller are over 50,000 pages; Next to his poetry and some novels, the majority of his works were in the fields of Medicine and Botany, but he also wrote about religion, political philosophy, and literature.

The over life-size bronze statue of Albrecht von Haller on a marble pedestal is located in the park in front of the main building of the University of Bern. Haller is standing with a cane and the hat in his hands, wearing a typical 18th century dress.
