A survey of the state line from western Robeson County (NC) to the Pee Dee River was commissioned by North and South Carolina in 1905. Thirty-seven granite markers were placed at intervals averaging one mile apart.
In 2005, the NC Geodetic Survey began searching to determine how many of the markers remain. The NCGS found this one and placed a witness post. GEOCACHING has found another one near Gibson, NC.
To reach the monument from the state line at US-177, go south about two miles. Turn right onto Langle Road, then right on Pleasant Hill Road. Marker will be on your right, about 54 feet east of the pavement.
