This handmade marker has been encased in concrete with a newer, and professionally made cryptic marker in the same concrete.

The marker in the same concrete slab states:

"Remember Man

As You Pass By,

As U.R. So,

Onst, Was I

And As I Be, So

Must You Be, 

Prepare For Death

And Follow Me."

 

A web search of the text shows many variations of this epitaph, however none abreviate "You Are" as U.R., or spell "once" as Onst.
