I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey benchmark from 1954 in good condition. The NGS datasheet is adequate for disk recovery. My more accurate coordinates will place you very close to this mark.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1954 6.9 MI SE FROM DORRIS. 6.9 MILES SOUTHEAST A GRADED ROAD FROM THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMPANY RAILROAD STATION AT DORRIS, 0.1 MILE NORTHWEST OF THE INTERSECTION OF A GRADED ROAD LEADING NORTHEAST-SOUTHWEST (SOUTHWEST TO THE PORTERFIELD RANCH), 26 1/2 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE ROAD, 20 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE APPROXIMATE CENTER OF A WOODEN GATE IN A FENCE, 4 1/2 FEET SOUTHWEST OF A FENCE, 2.4 FEET SOUTHEAST OF A WITNESS POST, ABOUT 3 FEET HIGHER THAN THE ROAD, AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 0.6 FOOT ABOVE THE GROUND.
