There are two facades that are public facing. The southern facade has eight bays. The fenestration on the first floor consists of wood and glass door in the second bay from the left. Access to the doorway is via three concrete steps. A metal canopy protects the entryway. Arched windows flank either side of the doorway. These windows are paired one-over-one panes with an arched window above. Four paired one-over-one and, at the right end, a secondary entryway with double wooden doors, complete the first level fenestration.

The upper floor fenestration is the same. All windows are one-over-one. From the left, the fenestration is: paired, single, paired, single, paired, single, paired, paired.

On the west facade, there is no entryway. The first floor fenestration has three of the similar arched windows from the south facade. The upper floor fenestration is seven single one-over-one windows. An entablature with Hotel Charitone appears centered on the frieze. On the corner of the building is a metal sign with the Hotel Charitone on it.

The Hotel Charitone, located in Chariton, Iowa, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Designed by noted Chariton architect William Perkins, the Charitone opened in 1923 as a hotel catering to railroad passengers. As the years passed, downtown hotels like the Charitone fell out of favor, and the hotel passed through a succession of owners and eventually fell into disrepair. In 2012, a coalition of concerned citizens formed a corporation to acquire the hotel and received a major fundraising boost from Hy-Vee, Inc. and the Vredenburg Foundation. The Hotel Charitone has undergone a $5 million historic rehabilitation and now houses a restaurant on the main floor and apartments on the upper floors.
