Police nad Metují is a town in the Hradec Králové Region. One of the most valuable historic building is The Church of Virgin Mary Assumption and adjacent building of former monastery.

The Column of Our Lady of Sorrows on the square from 1707 originates from the workshop of the great sculptor Jan Brokof. The column is encircled by spiral leafy twigs entwined with the instruments with which Jesus Christ was tortured. The top with the Corinthian capital bears the statue of Our Lady of Sorrows.
