Aestetic painted metas weathervane - a rooster - is installed at the popular overlook platform on the top of the peak Klein Matterhorn.
Weathervane is quite big, consist of the rooster painted in Swiss colors with typical white cross on red, an arrow showing wind direction and yellow pointers to each of 4 sides (NESW).
It is unique not only by design, but by its location on peak with elevation almost 4000 metres / 13K feet ASL.
Lets see if we will find any other in Europe, which is located higher.
The Klein Matterhorn (Pennine Alps) (marketed as the "Matterhorn Glacier Paradise") is the highest point in the Zermatt-Cervinia ski area in Switzerland, and the end point of the highest cable car in Europe. The peak is at 3883m (12740ft) with the cable car terminal at 3820m.
The lift serves the largest and highest summer-ski area in Europe. During summer months one can find many professional, as well as beginner, skiers here. Access to the ski slopes is via a tunnel blasted straight through the mountain.
