The town:
Ormalingen is a municipality in the district of Sissach in the canton of Basel-Landschaft with a population of about 2,000.
Ormalingen was first mentioned in 1286 under the name "Normandingen". In the middle ages it was property of several noble families, connected with ownership of Farnsburg Castle, that is located at the northern border of the current municipal soil. After being under the rule of Homberg, Frohburg, Homburg and finally Thierstein, the property of Thierstein-Farnsburg containing Ormalingen was sold to the city of Basel in 1461. In 1529 it joined the Reformation. Since 1833 Ormalingen has been part of the canton of Basel-Landschaft.

The town hall of Ormalingen is located at the main road in the town center. It's a yellow two-story building with high gables. The upper part of the building are apartments, the municipal offices are in the ground floor.
