This very simple light grey granite slab with attached bronze markers is located in the City Park - 4th and National in Decatur City, Ia.

In the northeast corner of a very quiet City Park in a quiet little town is this simple monument honoring Veterans. The background is a smooth-faced light grey marble with rough-hewn edges. Attached to this marble slab are two bronze markers and the holes where a third marker was. The top location is empty - it probably honored the dead of Korea.
The central marker reads:
This Monument erected
to honor and commemorate
the veterans of all wars
who answered their Country's
call in time of need.
Erected 1950 by
Decatur Memorial Association
The lower marker reads:
In grateful tribute
to those that
gave their lives in
World War I
