George W. Carlisle -- born in Jackson, Mississippi on March 30th 1856 -- served as Mississippi State Treasurer in 1901-1902. His headstone monument includes the standard WOW seal at the crest. The actual inscription reads:

CARLISLE
BORN MAR 30, 1856
DIED JUN 16, 1906
Per the FindAGrave website (
visit link) he apparently committed suicide at Battle Creek, Calhoun County, Michigan, USA on Jun 16th, 1906. A quote from the obituary reads:
"The Columbian 1906 ex state treasure [sic] Geo. W. Carlisle, of Jackson who committed suicide at Battle Creek Mich. Sunday was well known to many people in Marion County, he having been a resident of the adjoining county, Lawrence, in earlier days. The sad ending came after he had spent one night in a sanitarium where he had gone to be treated for nervous debility, caused by grieving and brooding over the unfortunate condition of his son, Fern, who became mentally unbalanced a short time ago. Mr. Carlisle was accompanied to Battle Creek by his devoted wife and when she returned to his room from breakfast Sunday morning she found him dead on the floor with his throat cut."
