AMALGAMATION

North Kamloops was incorporated as a village in 1947. In 1967, the residents voted to join South Kamloops to become the new City of Kamloops. North Kamloops gradually changed from rural/agricultural to suburban with a business district growing up on Tranquille Road. In 1973, the remaining settlements amalgamated with Kamloops by provincial edict.
