The Ranger Station of the Guadalupe Mountains National Park is off Highway 62/180 at the address of 400 Pine Canyon Dr., Salt Flat, TX. The Guadalupe Mountains NP is a great hiker's park. There are few roads through the park and hikers park at central parking lots and hike into the trails, campsites or back country areas. The highest elevation in Texas is at the summit of the Guadalupe Mountain and the trail head for this hiking path begins a short drive west from the Ranger Station.
While checking in with the Ranger, be sure to stamp your Passport to Your National Parks. The stamp is just to the right after you enter the glass doors of the main entrance. To the left is the ranger's administrative area and to the right is a book store of sorts where you can get maps of the park and books of National Park histories. There is also an exhibit of animals commonly found within the park boundaries.
The cancellation stamp is on a small table along with its ink pad.
