Stanley White cared for a man in France that had stolen the Corelli sword. As reward, White was given the location of the stolen sword on the man’s death bed. Back in London White arranged to meet with the Baron.
On his way to the meeting with White, the Baron is waylaid and the introductory letter stolen. With the aid of Cordelia, the Baron escapes and rushes to the rendezvous with White. Meanwhile the man that took the letter has already made contact with White. The Baron comes to the rescue, but White is killed in the ensuing fight. Before he dies White gives the Baron a newspaper with a crossword clue that tells him that the sword is at Parkstone House, the place the sword was stolen from in the first place.
The Baron and Cordelia make their way to Parkstone House in search of The Crusader, the other clue in the newspaper. Unfortunately they are followed by Arkin Morley, the man behind the attack on the Baron, and a fellow antiques dealer. The Baron and Cordelia are locked in the crypt and find the crusader and the sword. Arkin flees with the sword and Cordelia, with the Baron in pursuit. Cordelia forces Arkin off the road near a windmill. The Baron and Arkin fight in the windmill and Arkin is eventually killed when he falls on the sword.
