As the plaque reads:

For centuries Indians travelled well defined trails from the plains of North America as far South as Mexico. Traders and freighters from Battleford were the first white men to travel a path just East of this site which was known as the "Tramping Lake Portion of the Medicine Hat Trail."

In 1905 C. J. Logan grasped the need for a stopping place along the trail. He opened the Glen Logan Post Office and pioneer store on NE 4-40-19. The Tramping Lake Mission originated from his store.

Later a fast stage line between Scott, Wilkie and Battleford served the settlers, with the arrival of the railroad in 1908 the once proud trail was left to the blade of the homesteaders plough.

(At bottom of plaque it reads: Commemorated by the Eighty Year History Society, 1905-1985)

Second plaque, as it reads:

The hard work and determination of our pioneering forefathers laid the foundation for the progressive communities that prosper today in the Wilkie area.

We pay tribute to the pioneering spirit by honouring those who travelled the Trampling Lake Portion of the Medicine Hat Trail and contributed to the settlement of the area.

In the spirit of Heritage 85, may their historic marker bear witness to our appreciation of the past and our commitment to the future.
