Merritt, British Columbia is nicknamed the "Country Music Capital of Canada"

Annually for the last 12 years Merritt hosts the Mountain Music Festival. The festival draws over 15,000 fans that come to Merritt to enjoy the music of some of Country Music biggest stars.

In 2006, M. (Michelle) Laughery created this tribute to Beverley Mahood a Canadian country singer and Casey Clarke from CMT. This is one of eighty murals she has to her credit throughout British Columbia.

Beverley Mahood was born November 2, 1974 in Northern Ireland. She is a successful country music singer in Canada, both as a solo performer and as a member of the group Lace. She is also a Canadian television host.

Casey Clarke: Raised in Edmonton, Aberta, he hosts the popular Casey Clarke Show and has been on television and radio for well over twenty years. He is known as “The Face” of CMT.

In 2009, Casey Clarke was awarded The CMA International Broadcaster of the Year.
