Members of the Jacques family have operated a jewellery store at this location continuously since it opened in 1894. That's quite a run!

In 1894, F.B. Jacques moved from temporary quarters to his new store on Barnard Avenue while his family moved into the living quarters upstairs. Business prospered and Mr. Jacques was able to purchase the store next door in 1895. The business continues to be run by members of the family and the original display cases are still in use. "Work has been commenced on Mr. F.B. Jacques' new block on Barnard Avenue. The plans show a handsome brick veneer building with two storefronts"
