This cut mark is on the side wall of Mill Bridge over Eller Beck. This small stream runs very close to the Thanet Canal. This canal is a short canal that connects the Leeds Liverpool Canal with stone quarries just past Skipton Castle.

This bench mark was used during the First primary levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 353.8490 feet [107.8532 metres] above mean sea level (Liverpool datum). It was included on the Milner's Bridge to Bradford levelling line. The surveyor's description was No. 97. Bolt in North face of East pier of Mill Bridge, Skipton ; 2.95 ft. below road. link
