Vernon is known for the many large murals gracing the walls of the downtown area. This is a large mural which one sees when entering downtown from the south on Highway 97. The sign gives us a bit of the history behind the mural.

Jim Duddle and Eldon Seymour

Coldstream Avenue & 32nd Street

In the spring and summer of 1935, the engine of CF-AOM, 'The City of Vernon" was finally installed... a dream come true for the builders, two youths, Jim Duddle and Eldon Seymour, ages 17 and 18. "It was a great thrill when the motor fired on the first pull and settled down to a smooth, nice purr. It was the climax of all they had worked on in the past months. CF-AOM was alive and eager to test her wings."
