The petition for the Alliance Lodge #271 F.& A.M. was secured in 1855. The first Worshipful Master was J. R. Conrad. The Conrad Lodge #494 F.& A.M. charter was started in 1874 by J.R. Conrad and several members of the Alliance Lodge. In 1879 the Alliance Lodge and the Conrad Lodge merged and became The Conrad Lodge # 271. F.& A.M. Up until 1918 the meetings were held in various building on Main Street, none of which are standing today. The Alliance Masonic Temple building was dedicated on Jan. 1, 1918. In 1925 a third lodge was chartered, it was the McFadden Lodge # 697 F.& A.M. Both Lodges used the temple. In 1989 the McFadden Lodge was consolidated into the Conrad Lodge #271 F.& A.M.
