The City of North Port's fire service was originally provided by Sarasota County, wherein North Port was District 8. After the city established their own emergency services, they kept Station 1 named Station 81.

This station is the headquarters for North Port Fire Rescue and is located in the new heart of North Port, the municipal circle, neighbouring the City Hall, Police Department, Recreational Center and Post Office.
