Roaring River State Park does not have an entrance fee. Although the campgrounds have opened and closed seasons, the playgrounds and picnic areas remain open all year round.
I'm calling this the Picnic Playground because of its inclusion in the large day-use picnic area, which has multiple picnic shelters, as well as bathrooms. This playground consists of one large component of the modern variety, with slides, climbing bars, steps, forts, and other things for kids to use their imaginations on.
If you visit here for a group picnic, don't go away without seeing the huge spring that is the sole source of Roaring River, as well as the hatchery. The old CCC buildings are interesting bits of history.
