Initially a Presbyterian church, this wood frame building was the second church built in the town of Armstrong, with services being held for the first time on January 2nd, 1902. In 1925, with Canada wide church union, it became a United Church.

Zion Looking Back...

A.L. Fortune, a prominent member of the Overlander Party of 1862, laid the cornerstone for the Zion Presbyterian Church in 1901. This landmark building was constructed in the gothic style, with the lancet arc shapes in the windows and an open bell tower.

January 2. 1902 - first official service held in the completed building.

Church bell was imported from Belgium.

Lounge area at the back was constructed just prior to WW1.

South gable displays a wooden wagon—wheel motif.

June 10. 1925 - building became the Zion United Church when the local Methodist and Presbyterian congregations joined as part of the Canada wide union.

1953 - the adjacent Church Hall was constructed.

1925 to 2002 - 14 ministers have served the congregation, including two women.
