The statue is the Greek Goddess, Nike also known as Winged Victory. The monument was commissioned by the Canadian Pacific Railway to honour its employees who died in the First World War.
Winged Victory is carrying a fallen soldier upward to the heavens. They each have both feet off the ground. She is barefooted, dressed in a sleeveless, layered, full-length garment. She, of course, has wings. The dead soldier is dressed in full battle gear including a backpack. His head is bare.
